NOT a New Series

When we don't know which way to go,
we just follow the penises.

I Dream In Dutch

In a dream, all my varmints got on the bus to go to school.
Alone, I went for my walk down to the harbor.
The mists parted, revealing 6 Dutch Schooners, rafted at the dock.
The Captain promised to have me back by 3.

10 Years Ago Today...

I woke up to the sounds of a hurricane.
I was in Queens with the Hubby, who was not my Hubby. Yet.
The intercom from the school was blarring:
"SCHOOL IS CLOSED TODAY."
I picked myself up. Dragged myself to work.
In the evening, he surprised me with a dinner reservation at a
I had lived across the street from this place for years,
yet never ate there.
I wore a long black silk gown with high-heeled strappy shoes.
There were no limos idling on the block that night.
We were soaked just crossing the street.
I can't remember what I ordered,
only that there was warm chocolate soufflé for dessert.
2 hours later, we were back in bed.
Listening to the hurricane.

We're back from the long weekend, & I have alotta pics to unload,
laundry to do, and piles of paper to sort.
Maybe that's why the goat's giving me the eyeball?
I'll be posting as soon as my box is sorted!
How was your holiday weekend?

Recycled Design

I loved working on these... it was the kind of fantasy assignment
you get in Art School, but rarely get in real life.
Sadly, the project was killed.

Flash forward 1 year, and guess what?
A lovely client casually mentions that she might need a
custom label for a promotional chocolate bar.
A little client input, & the result was this:

Now, 2 years later, I needed to come up with a new design
I dipped into the chocolate again, and this is the result:

So, the lesson is:
1) Don't throw anything away.
2) If a great design doesn't get chosen, save it in an
inspiration folder.
3) Always give credit where credit is due.
Thanks Ms. Beautiful Things for that yarn pic,
which I *borrowed* from your flickr page.
(for a great cause!)

Alpha Cap Q (again)

If I could find money,
like I find Q's, I'd be a rich lady.
