When I lived in the West Village, I often went to Fishs Eddy,
hunting for treasure.
It's a dishware joint, where you can buy odds and ends from custom dishes made for restaurants, hotels, dining cars, etc. (Now it's become so huge, that you can register there for your wedding.) One day, while I was hunting through dish piles, I found plates from the Diner back home.
This was the Diner we often invaded before sunrise.
Where we would torture the waitresses by ordering "Eggs Any Style."
It brings me such joy to serve my kids breakfast on the very plates we sobered-up on as teenagers.

i like that story... and that dishware store sounds so fun. but i have to say, as a server, it drives me crazy when people order "two eggs, any style" and i'm like "eggs HOW?" and then they say "oh... over medium" or whatever... hahaha.
The scuzee diner! One time I was there with David Shapiro and Steven Sherman and there was a rat under our table. Were you there?
That is awesome - love that idea!
awesome memory...thanks for sharing. I had sober-up-spots as well!
What a fun story!!!
Hahahaha...I'd love to have diner plates from my house o' sober. :-) Fishs Eddy is the best.
LOVE fish's eddy and LOVE your pancakes even more...can i call you Flo?
Loved that place and there was a little itty bitty store near there with the best Caesar salad --only they called it "Romaine Romano".
I love Fish's Eddy, too! And I agree with Bonbon--- your pancakes are cuter. ;)
That's hysterical...I'll have the eggs any style! Sounds like the perfect day, and I love Fishs Eddy :)
