Missing Mina

Sad news: Mina is being moved from a rehab hospital

to a nursing home.

Those of you who have been following my blog

for a long time know how much I'll miss her.

In fact, I keep looking over at her porch expecting to see her.

I decided to make one of these snapfish fleece

photo blankies for her.

It took 4 minutes to make it & order it online,

and only 1 day to get it here.

I hope it gives her a warm fuzzy.

Hi Folks,

Many of you have been asking me how Mina is doing.

She's fine! I just don't see her as much in the winter.

The other day I sent her a note scrawled

on a picture I took of a cat on her steps.

(I love documenting for her, who comes to call.)

2 days later, she came bearing gifts. With notes.

haven't you missed seeing her notes??!!

I love her.

Mina Update: 8/08/09

Mina has been laundering Ice Cream Money 

through my varmints...

And when I say *Laundering* I really mean it.

She washes 2 or 3 dollars worth of change,

puts it in a purse, and tells the varmints to go buy ice cream.

This morning, the purse came wrapped in Saran Wrap,

with a note.

Here they are giving her a thank you card.

Mina Update: 7/19/09

Some of you have been asking me how Mina (our neighbor) is,

so I thought I'd let you all know that she's AWESOME.

Especially for a 97 year old person who broke her hip last winter!

Seriously.

Which reminded me that I wanted to share this morsel with you...

One day, whilst sitting on her porch, 

Mina asked me if The Hubby had a sense of humor.

To which I responded: Of COURSE he does!

She said: I have something for him....

Then she hobbled up the stairs & came down with this towel:

Don't you just LOVE her?!

Plus, she leaves us notes on everything. Coupons, envelopes, newspapers...

Even toilet paper.

Hi Folks...

I heard some sad news today... Mina fell & broke her hip while visiting in Queens.

The powers that be are now hustling to get her transfered to a hospital here, at which point I'll go visit her. I know she has no idea what a blog is, let alone that she has so many fans on my blog, but if you guys would leave her a kind note in the comments, I'll print them all out & bring them for her to read while she's recovering.

A Gift from Mina

Usually, I run to get my camera when I see Mina out in her bathrobe.

How cute is she?!!!

Then I think: 

what if someone was taking surveillance pics of ME in my furry robe with bed hair?

Nah.

Anyway... she was waving & gesturing for us to come over there,

so I sent hubby across the street with the varmints.

there was alot more gesturing, 

and a few minutes later, they came back with a bag.

3 pairs of hand-knit booties with a note....

"If the booties are too small, please return to me, 

I know of someone that might be able to use them. -Mina"
